So the way this coronavirus is set up….The COVID-19 is impacting our lives in ways we’ve never experienced, nor imagined and everyone must do what’s necessary to slow the spread of the virus. Unfortunately, this means we staying home and doing things ourselves. With barbers and salons ordered to shut down, access to your favorite stylist is more or less non-existent. No fear, LaJAshley’s here to help you with a simple but detailed ways to easily do your hair with our products.
1. Prepare hair for washing
Whether your hair is straight or kinky, proper prep produces positive results (couldn’t think of another “p”). Detangling hair before washing will prevent shed hair from tangling and creating knots. You can either finger detangle or use a good detangling brush. When was the last time you had a hot oil treatment? Our Chamomile Chai Dry Hair Elixir or Strengthening Hair Elixir works wonders for hair when warmed and massaged into the scalp! This process hydrates the scalp and adds a protective layer on the hair strands when washing; locking in moisture. This can be left on for 20-30minutes, 1 hour, or overnight.
2. Cleaning time!
Are you a person that loves and needs a deep clean, because you use a lot of product or don’t clean hair as often? Do you generally need or prefer more moisturizing properties when cleansing hair? Or do you love a good scalp tingling, aroma therapeutic experience when you’re washing your hair? Whichever type you are, LaJAshley Shampoos give your hair exactly what it needs.
For curly/kinky hair, separate hair into sections. Apply any one of our shampoos directly to the scalp and give it a good but gentle massage with fingers or a shampoo brush. This will help stimulate the scalp and increase blood flow to promote growth and overall health to your scalp. Rinse thoroughly, making sure the water glides from scalp to the tips of hair, ensuring that every part gets fully cleansed.
3. To Condition or Deep Condition
What’s the difference? The length of time. Deep conditioning requires more time and allows for moisture and nutrients to penetrate the hair shaft; normally 20+ minutes. Regular conditioning is just a quick moisture fix. Some but not all nutrients will be able to penetrate the hair shaft. This process normally takes 5-10 minutes.
After shampooing, your main focus, when conditioning, should be towards the ends of hair. If your hair is already in sections, this will be a great time to detangle. Begin from tip to root, avoiding scalp. You can apply oil directly to scalp if deep conditioning for a nutrient-rich experience. For best results, apply heat on top of a plastic cap; whether through a heat cap or hooded dryer. You can also use the steam from your shower as a heat source. Apply any one of our luxurious conditioners to work its magic. Papaya Surprise for added vitamins and nutrients, Green Apple Dream Protein Conditioner for strength, Mint-Tea Stimulating Deep Conditioner for extra circulation and hair growth, Coconut Cream Hydrating Hair Masque for extra moisture and softness.
After rinsing out your conditioner, it’s time for styling. LaJAshley Moisturizers provide moisture at different levels. Whether your hair is straight or kinky, we have a moisturizer for that. Apply to damp hair, from tip to root, avoiding the scalp.
This is where can get interesting but fun, since you have the time. Slick buns, ponytails, updos, twist outs, bantu knots, wash and gos, etc., are just some of the simple styles you can consider. LaJAshley’s Styling Gel and Sleek and Shine Edge Control are great when needing an added hold for your styles. For best results, make sure hair is slightly damp before applying.
6. The Finishing Touch
For curly/kinky hair, if use color or have fried ends, use LaJAshley’s Chamomile Chai Dry Hair Elixir on hair strands or ends; and/or the Strengthening Hair Elixir on scalp.
Doing your hair at home can be simple and effective. Here are some tips of how to care for hair during this process.
Trim split ends and single strand knots that form at the ends of hair. You don’t have to remove a lot of hair when trimming, just “brush” the ends and remove just the parts that are damaged. If not, the damage will move up the hair shaft and cause more damage.
When deep conditioning, alternate between moisture and protein. You need both, even if you’re protein sensitive. Our Green Apple Dream Protein Conditioner is gentle, but effective.
Refrain from over manipulation. You don’t need to do your hair every day, especially for those with curly and kinky hair. This can cause damage and breakage to hair.
Eat healthy. Your body needs nourishment which will in turn, nourish your hair.
